FAQs

For those of you who want to know more!

Here are a few commonly asked questions. If your question is not answered below, please feel free to email me at shelby@groovaroo.com and I will get back to you shortly.

Who can come?

Moms, dads, grandparents, or any other caregiver may come to enjoy dancing with their baby.

What do I wear? What does baby wear?

During the class, things can get heated because we are moving a lot and you will have a baby next to you. Be sure to wear something that allows you to move freely and will keep you cool. Baby should also wear something that will keep him/her cool. Baby should not wear footed pajamas or any item that restricts movement

What type of carrier can I use?

A stretchy wrap, soft structured carrier (Ergo, Tula, Etc.) or a Mei Dai are okayed for use and if you arrive early, I can assist you in fitting it if needed.

If you have a small infant, a stretchy wrap (Boba, Moby, Etc.) or an SSC designed for infants without an insert is preferred.

*If you choose to wear a woven wrap, you will need to be able to fit it yourself, make sure to have a deep seat, and check periodically to make sure it remains tight.

When can a postpartum mom begin classes?

The earliest a postpartum mom can begin classes is 6 weeks for a vaginal birth and 8 weeks for a cesarian birth. You must have been released to be able to exercise by a doctor.

The preferred age is 3 months , but you may begin earlier if you think you and baby are able.

*Even if another caregiver is dancing with baby, baby must be at least 6 weeks old.

Can I dance while pregnant?

If you have permission from your doctor and physically feel capable of dancing, you may dance while pregnant. If you want to wear a baby and dance while pregnant, some modifications may need to be made to allow you to use a baby carrier.

What should I expect in a class?

We will start off class doing a warmup and some stretching, we will learn two dances, and then we will cool down with stretches and a relaxing short dance. There will be breaks for water and to use the restroom. Feel free to stop any time if you or baby need to take a break.

What if I need help with my carrier?

If you need help fitting your carrier, please arrive 15 minutes early to allot enough time.

Will there be childcare for my other kids who aren't worn?

There will not be childcare for kids who are not being worn. If you believe they can dance beside you or sit by themselves and play to the side while you keep an eye on them, then you may bring them.

What if I don't think I'm a good dancer?

GroovaRoo is not about being a good dancer. It's about having fun, bonding with your baby, dancing as a family, and being apart of a community that can laugh and enjoy life together.

Can I pay when I arrive?

You may pay when you arrive with cash or PayPal.
